LNG (liquefied natural gas)
LNG is natural gas cooled into liquid form so it can be shipped by tanker to markets a pipeline can't reach.
LNG is natural gas that has been cooled to roughly minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit until it condenses into a liquid, shrinking its volume enough to be loaded onto specialized tankers and shipped to markets that pipelines can't reach. Once it arrives, it's warmed back into gas at a regasification terminal and fed into the local pipeline grid, which is how gas produced in one country ends up heating homes or generating power on another continent entirely.
Guests on the show describe LNG as one of the biggest long-term bets in the industry, from a major operator's multi-year, first-of-its-kind equity marketing strategy for a new LNG project to smaller operators counting on LNG demand and infrastructure buildout to eventually lift natural gas prices after years of being told to be patient.
Heard on the show
“I know everyone's very bullish on gas, and they were, you know, it's a start because the LNG, right? We're gonna ship this over to South Korea or Poland or wherever it needs to go”
“we developed an equity marketing strategy for our LNG. Historically, those projects marketed their product as a team, as one group”
